Sec. Bill Poleri thanked all those members who called to express their concerns and offers of help to him and his wife during the brush fires. The fires came within 900 feet of the Poleris’ house. Poleri reported it was a scary situation for about 28 hours last Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25 and 26.
Treas. Tony di Milo read the financial report. Incomes from Oct. 18th meeting were: Luncheon, $182, and non-eaters, $10 for a total of $190. Luncheon expenses were $300 and gratuities, $5 for a lost of $115. Other incomes were: 50/50 winnings, $15, and Dues, $150. Other expense was Postage, $46.84. Balance is $3945.06. Duke Sella motioned to accept. Chicky Russo seconded it. The motion carried.
The treasurer reported that there were only 16 members in attendance at the last meeting, which explains the large lost. He also announced that donations can be made to the Handicapped Children’s Christmas party which is coming up in December.
He reminded members that the $35 dues are due.
OLD BUSINESS: Pres. Joe Picarella announced that he would again treat all those members who attend the Dec. 6th meeting to their lunches. He said this was in lieu of a Christmas card.
Vice President Steve Loyacano again urged members to call their friends the night before a meeting to urge them to attend the session.
NEW BUSINESS: Sec. Poleri reminded members that there is only one meeting left in November, Nov. 15 and one in December, Dec. 6, with the Children’s Christmas Party following on Dec. 13 or 20. There are no meetings over the holidays. The first meeting in 2004 is on Jan. 17.
MISCELLANEOUS: The membership sang Happy Birthday to Joe Picarella, Vinny Raso and Sabrina, our waitress.
Pres. Picarella adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 15 at the Villa Sorrento, followed by the December 6th meeting.
