GRANDSONS OF ITALY IN AMERICA

 

Minutes of June 7, 2003 Meeting

 

 

Sgt.-at-Arms Greg Holzer called the meeting to order and President Joe Picarella led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer. A moment of silence followed for our deceased and ailing brothers and those in the services.

 

Rocco Telese motioned to accept the minutes for May 17. Larry Mascari seconded it. The motion carried.

Sec. Poleri informed members that Lee Pappas improved the club’s web site so the directory with members’ pictures will now come up much faster. He also reminded members that there would be no meeting on July 5th due to the holiday.

 

Poleri reported on Brother Jimmy D’Arrigo who had a heart attack a few weeks back. D’Arrigo had two blocked arteries; one was 100% blocked and the other 95% blocked. An angioplasty on the first was a success but during the attempt on the second one an artery was punctured and he had to be operated on. He will have the second angioplasty done in several weeks. Poleri added that Jimmy would appreciate phone calls.

 

Treas. di Milo read the financial report. Incomes from May 17th meeting were: Luncheon, $348, and non-eaters, $10 for a total of $358. Luncheon expenses were $319 and gratuities, $10 for a gain of $32. Other income was 50/50 winnings, $32. Expenses were mailings, $53.40. Balance is $4045.10. Chris Lanieri motioned to accept. Carmine Marinelli seconded it. The motion carried.

 

NEW BUSINESS –Pres. Picarella issued a presidential directive that no one in the club is allowed to get sick and everyone must stay healthy.

 

OLD BUSINESS – Roger Pisarra reported that the shirts and hats that were ordered should be in next week. He added that he was told that they would be in this week. Treasurer di Milo reminded members that part of the treasurer’s report balance is money for the shirts and hats.

 

ANNOUNCEMENT – Vinny Raso announced that he and Karen Desmone will marry on July 4th in a patriotic wedding. They are planning a small ceremony with 12 guests.

 

Picarella adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on June 21 at the Villa Sorrento, followed by the July 19th meeting.
