Minutes of July 21, 2007 Meeting
Sgt.-at-Arms Greg Holzer called the meeting to order and Pres. Vinny Raso led the club in the Pledge of Allegiancer. Chaplain Jimmy D'Arrigo then led the group in the prayer. Pres. Raso called for a moment of silence for our deceased brothers, those that are ill and our servicemen.
Rocco Telese motioned to accept the June 16th minutes. Mike Perrotta seconded it. The club's web site is www.goiia.com (case sensitive, all lower case).
Sec. Bill Poleri explained to members that the annual luncheon for Shut-In Seniors will be held on Aug. 4, therefore there would be no meeting on that Saturday. The next meeting will be on Aug. 18. He also pointed out that there will be no meeting on the first Saturday in September due to Labor Day.
Treas. Tony di Milo read the financial report for the June 16th meeting. Members attending the luncheon were 23; Vitello's Luncheon Tab, $322; 50/50 income, $30; Rocco Telese donated his $30 50/50 winnings , and Pro-rated dues, $12. Expenses: Postage and Printing Directories, $116.38. The balance is $2833.13. Holzer motioned to accept. Len Indelicato seconded it. The motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS: Sec. Poleri asked for volunteers for drivers and escorts at the senior luncheon, which will take place at St. Charles Church Parish Center, corner of Moorpark and Lankershim, North Hollywood. Cochairman Arrigo said 25 volunteers are needed and those planning to attend should give their names to him. The volunteer drivers should be at the center at 11 a.m. to get their assignments so they can pick up the seniors by 11:15. Arrigo explained. The luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 or shortly after that. Patsy Perriello, who has been a volunteer since he became a member, raved about the great feeling one gets when he assists the seniors. Steve Loyacano echoed similar sentiment.
Treas. di Milo announced that only seven persons signed up for the Man-of-the-Year Dinner, which is being held Sunday, Aug. 26th at Maggiano's Restaurant from 12 to 4 p.m. The cost is $30 per person. He said that 50 reservations are needed and those attending should see him now or call him at (818) 907-6777.
Pres. Raso said that his wife Karen and he would perform at the senior luncheon and the man-of-the-year dinner, free of charge. The president also reminded members that you don't need to be a member or a member's spouse to attend the MOTY dinner. He urged members to bring their friends.
NEW BUSINESS: Joe Turcillo announced that he is hosting a get together on Sunday, July 22, starting at 1 p.m. at his place for his group and the rest of us are also invited.
ANNOUNCMENT: Treas. di Milo said that he has $50 coupons to a Beverly Hills salon, called Lituman's. Of course, there were no takers but plenty of comments on what it would cost to just walk into the joint.
Dax Litto announced that a movie he is involved in is shooting a restaurant scene in the Valley in the near future and extras are needed. Anyone that is interested or knows of some one who is interested should contact him. There is no pay.
di Milo also announced that he has six tickets to "Jersey Boys" for this Wednesday and Thursday and anyone interested should see him. The tickets are $200 each.
Telesse donated his $25 50/50 winnings back to the club..
Pres. Raso adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be Aug. 18th at Vitello's Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Sept. 15th meeting.
