OLD BUSINESS – Sec. Bill Poleri explained that there was no restriction on establishing a new membership category. He explained that the bylaws state that the dues shall be determined by the membership. Mike Policare reintroduced his motion from the last meeting which was to set up a life time membership category, where a member for $500 can become a life member. This category would start in October of 2006. D’Arrigo again seconded it. After a short discussion, the motion carried.
Policare asked Treasurer di Milo how long do we carry late paying dues members. di Milo replied for a while. Sec. Poleri explained that the dues were due by mid October. After a debate on the length of time we carry members delinquent in their dues, Murgo motioned that the club shall communicate to anyone who hasn’t paid their dues in 60 days that they would be dropped from the club if the dues aren’t paid by Jan. 1. Vito Giovannelli seconded it. The motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS: Vice Pres. Steve Loyacano proposed that we have a monitor who keeps track of who attends the meeting. Policare asked what would this accomplish? Loyacano said that from this record we could notify non-attending members how long it has been since they had attended a meeting. Other words, he said, we can shake them up. Treas. di Milo said that he Policare , Loyacano and others tried calling these members but it did little good.
Pres. Raso reported that he put up pictures of the kids at our Christmas Party at Amgen where he works and he received many favorable comments. “Jerry has his kids and we have ours,” he proudly said.
Policare said that he was at the party and wanted to compliment Poleri, di Milo, Greg Holzer who played Santa, and the other volunteers on the great job they did at the party. They received a big hand.
Poleri announced that Ed Mazzarino turned 90 last month and is now a life member. Ed received both a big hand and well wishes.
Pres. Raso adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 21st at Villa Sorrento followed by the Feb. 4th meeting.
