GRANDSONS OF ITALY IN AMERICA

 

Minutes of August 21, 2004 Meeting

 

Sgt.-at-Arms Greg Holzer called the meeting to order. President Joe Picarella led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer. A moment of silence followed for our deceased brothers and those that are ill and in the services.

 

Chris Lanieri motioned to accept the minutes for Aug. 7. Chicky Russo seconded it. The motion carried. The web sight is: http://leejpappas.com/goiia.htm (case sensitive, all lower case).

 

Treas. Tony di Milo read the financial report. Incomes from Aug. 7th meeting were Luncheon, $336, and non-eaters, $20 for a total of $356. Luncheon expenses were $328 and gratuities $5, for a gain of $23. Other income was 50/50 winnings, $35 and Leo Matranga’s 50/50 winnings, $35. Balance is $2794.20. Vinny Raso motioned to accept. Sal Pacino seconded it. The motion carried.

 

di Milo reminded all that the club’s picnic is set for Sunday Oct. 24.

He also said members should give Mickey Grasso, who is in the hospital, a call at (818) 708- 4017.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Dr. Joseph Turcillo announced that to increase attendance that he would be willing to give a medical talk on various medical problems. He said this might stimulate attendance.

Vinny Raso read an article, which appeared in the recent RV ing Experience newsletter. The article, which was written by a guest Raso has brought to one of GOIIA’s luncheon meetings, gave a glowing account of his visit with us and he couldn’t say enough about "this wonderful club and it’s membership."

 

OLD BUSINESS: President Joe Picarella gave a pre-farewell speech.

 

Vito Giaovannelli won the 50/50 of which he donated the $20 winnings to the waitress and bus boys.

 

Pres. Picarella adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on

Sept 18 at the Villa Sorrento, followed by the Oct. 2nd meeting.
