Minutes of August 2, 2008 Meeting

 

Sgt.-at-Arms Greg Holzer called the meeting to order and Pres. Vinny Raso led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Chaplain Jimmy D’Arrigo then led the group in the prayer. Pres. Raso then led the group in a moment of silence for our deceased brothers, those that are ill and our servicemen.

 

There was no reading of the minutes for the July 19th meeting. Brother D’Arrigo, who is filling in for Sec. Bill Poleri, has recorded the minutes but hasn’t type them up. D’Arrigo will also record the minutes for today. The minutes will be typed up by Poleri in time for the Aug. 16th meeting. The motion passed. The club’s web site is www.goiia.com (case sensitive, all lower case).

 

Treas. Tony di Milo read the financial report for the Jul;y 19th meeting. Members attending the luncheon were 24; Vitello’s Luncheon Tab, $336. Incomes was 50/50, $30. Expense was $200 donation to the San Gennaro Foundation. The balance is $3040.30. Holzer motioned to accept. Vinny Oliver seconded it. The motion passed.

 

There was a brief discussion on the caterer’s bill of $864.94 for the Shut-In Seniors’ Luncheon.

 

NEW BUSINESS: President Raso announced that Brother Charlie Gallo would be going to Dubai in October as a consultant for a major corporation. He could be gone as long as two years. The membership wished success on his new adventure.

 

The president also reported that Brother Sal Sportelli would be having an operation on his left eye on Aug. 27. The members offered prayers and well wishes for a successful operation.

 

SPEAKER: Dr. Joseph Turcillo, MD. FACP, gave an interesting talk on “evolutionary medicine”.

 

Dario Galatolo donated his $20 50/50 winnings back to the club.

 

Pres Raso adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be Aug. 16th at Vitello’s Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Sept. 6th meeting. Submitted by Secretary Bill Poleri.
